Prosumer Intelligence

When consumers stop passively consuming pre-configured products and begin to actively participate in the creative process, they become what futurist Alvin Toffler described as “Prosumers”. Creating and sharing design possibilities, Prosumers not only get products tailored to their own wants and desires, they can also provide retail intelligence that can be useful in the development of other merchandising and marketing programs, including mass produced goods destined for more traditional channels of distribution.

The DemandMade Prosumer Intelligence Application is a sophisticated data warehousing system that tracks tracks aggregate consumer behavior. Because the DemandMade platform is leveraged across the numerous consumer touch-points needed to present and deliver mass customized products, we work with consumer brands and our retail clients to develop customized reporting programs that deliver insight into consumer preferences and behavior.

This testing can include offering new product attributes via mass customization to gauge consumer response or programs which monitor how consumers are leveraging choice to make buying decisions. These tools can also be used to avoid the burden of choice — introducing too many product variables and/or a poor design interface for interacting with such choices.
