Company Background

DemandMade provides technology and managed services for consumer brands and retailers who wish to offer personalized or mass customized products and factories who assemble made-to-order consumer products. The company was founded in 2005 by ebusiness pioneers Scott Killian and Tim Brule, the same award-winning team who helped define e-commerce outsourcing when they launched FanBuzz in 1996. The pair also developed the successful mass customization process CustomFan in 1999. One of the first online applications of mass customization, CustomFan was used to operate successful merchandising programs for such brands as Coca-Cola, the NHL, Peanuts, ESPN and the 2002 Olympic games. FanBuzz was successfully sold to ShopNBC (NASDAQ: VVTV) in 2002. Killian and Brule’s experience in operating successful e-commerce programs using mass customization serves as the backdrop for DemandMade’s unique Web-based applications.

Termed by Stan Davis in 1987, Mass Customization is based on the idea that products can be tailored to the preferences of individual consumers at near mass production speed and efficiencies. DemandMade was formed to help make this process possible by uniting the supply chain including brands and marketers where dynamic products are defined and the facilities where these products are produced or assembled.
